Hello There,
I’m not one to believe that true friendship are one-in-a-lifetime events, governed by fate alone. Instead, I feel that we create strong bonds by freely accepting the challenge of opening up and exploring the infinite possibilities that a new friendship could bring into our lives.
My name is Sovereign, and today I’m hoping that through this introduction I’ll connect with someone who is adventurous and interested in building such a friendship by replying with a few kind words.
To help in your decision, I want you to know that I am a down-to-earth guy who’s looking forward to forming a friendship built on open communication, understanding, and equally important, acceptance.
I’ve been imprisoned since the age of 16, having completed 26 of the 28 years I was sentenced to. And while I’ve lost the opportunity to enjoy my juvenile and young adult life, I’ve been blessed to do what some of my peers weren’t able to, which was to live long enough to grow and mature from a boy to the man I am today, both mentally and physically – sort of like the transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly.
With only 2 years remaining on this sentence, I’m excited about, and looking forward to, the next stage of life and the numerous people, experience, and insights that will shape what I’m sure will be my best life so far. I come from a big family; I’m very family oriented – the oldest of all my siblings. When I say family, please understand that for me it’s not always about blood . . . blood makes you relatives . . . but being true in our words and actions – in the way we express our love, the peace and happiness we share, along with the loyalty and conviction we show to those we care about – is how we define and solidify our bonds.
During my time in prison, I’ve pursued my education and am now enrolled in another college course (the first was Culinary Arts / Food Services – so yeah, I am wicked in the kitchen). I have some solid ideas about how I want to design my future financial and social situation that I’d like to share and get feedback on.
With so many positive things to look forward to, I want to use this platform to add more positivity to my life by connecting with someone who I can build a friendship with during and beyond my transition from prison to a life in the free world. And with a few strokes of your pen or keyboard, you could turn this narrative into reality and find the greatest friend you could imagine!
Whether in prison or in the free world, we live in an environment where friends are few and far between . . . so we should take every opportunity to create them when we can. So, if anything said here speaks to you, feel free to reach out . . . like today (LOL).
Goodbye for now, Peace
Sovereign
